No Longer a Teenager

5-23-10
It’s my birthday today. At 10:12 a.m. I will officially be twenty years old… I won’t be a teenager anymore. Not sure what to think about all that. Right now I’m sitting in a hotel room listen to my mom snore. My mom took Kelsey and I to the casino to celebrate my birthday. My aunt Nancy came with us. Not sure what I’m doing still awake. At three I woke up and took my mom down to the casino. She’s always wanted to go gambling in the middle of the night to see who gambles in the middle of the night. There were a lot of drunk people. It’s been fun. This morning I won forty dollars… but then I sort of lost it all. Oh well, it happens.
I got enough points on my Shooting Star card to get a giant mug and saucer though. Now I have the complete set of four. They’re pretty cute. My mom likes the pens that the casino has so she hang onto them and using them for pens at the resturant. The lady must have seen my mom trying to sneak the pen, because she put about ten in the bag with the mugs she got me. It was pretty funny, but I guess you had to be there.  Oh and my mom, aunt, and I also started to play follow the leader down the hallway of the hotel.  That was fun.  We had our arms out to the side like we were pretending to be airplanes.  Then we started to spin in circles and we noticed the security cop with a couple drunk people behind us… so we stopped.

Friday was fun too. That’s when I celebrated my birthday with my friends. Kelsey took me out to Space Aliens and all my friends came with. I had a BBQ backed potato. Man, those are good. Then we went back to the apartment for cake. Kelsey got me a raspberry truffle cheesecake blizzard cake from Dairy Queen. I designed the cake, but Kristi, my manager, decorated it. It’s supposed to represent my love of writing and doodling. The little doodles weren’t supposed to be colored in because it was supposed to look like they were drawn with the pencil, but that’s okay. It was still adorable.

I really wanted to play Rock Band at the apartment, but Kailin didn’t want to. She said she’d go sleep in her room if we did, so I suggested a movie. She didn’t want to do that either. For a while the bunch of us just sat there having awkward conversation. It was driving me crazy, especially since there were people there who really didn’t know everybody and I didn’t want them to feel awkward. Eventually we got my Would You Rather cards and started going through some of those. Some of them were pretty funny like Would you rather fight off a gorilla with a bat and a garbage can lid as a shield or a gaggle of angry geese with stones and a sling shot? It was still weird, but sort of entertaining I guess. Anyway, Kailin got me lego star wars for my wii, and Sarah W. got me a gift card to Petco. I’m going to use it on Peanut… obviously. I also got a really cute card and ten dollars from Sarah Beth. Once we get back into town I’ll get my gift from my mom and then there’s cake at my grandma’s. She said she’d make me angel food cake with strawberries… I hope she remembers. She told me to remind her, but I forgot.
EDIT: There was cake, and it was amazing.
